One recruiter actually questioned my decision to pursue a particular position because the title would make me appear, on paper, to have been demoted. She asked if I “…really wanted to sabotage my resume like that?” Well, I guess my only answer to that is, yes, because titles and position don’t really mean much to me. Furthermore, I don’t really care what a piece of paper has to say about my abilities. I serve a mighty God who made plans for me long before I was born, and HE is the ONLY One Who tells me who I am and what I’m capable of. Because of Him, my future is unlimited. But if I get all hung up on having a particular title, I could really miss out on an awesome opportunity to be somewhere that God wants me to be.
I guess when I was younger, all this stuff meant more. But honestly, titles hold little (if any) interest for me these days. You see, I have one title that matters, and that is “Christian.” As a follower of Jesus Christ, I love the Lord with all my heart, and ultimately, that’s the difference-maker.
Oh, and as far as my “position” is concerned…Well, if I’m in the proper position, it’s low…really, really low. It’s on my face, humble, loving, and serving others. Whether I do that from a CEO’s desk or from a janitor’s broom closet is neither here nor there. What is important is that I’m doing whatever I do, wherever I go, to bring light into the world and glory to God. THIS is my position, and in a backwards Kingdom–where the last is first and the first is last–I believe my Daddy is proud of His daughter.
Am I now trying to win the favor and approval of men, or of God? Or am I seeking to please someone? If I were still trying to be popular with men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ. – Galatians 1:10 (AMP)

Amen! As a follower of Christ, I think the title we all truely long for, is Servant; with a well done good and faithful one.

Yes, mam. Jesus never strove for anything more than that, so neither should we. π

Humility is a trait God looks for in his children and uses. Those who humble themselves will be exalted. True humility isnt looking to be in the limelight nor needing it, that is why Lisa ,God has a perfect job for you. God bless you Lisa
