Wisdom, Joy, and Trick or Treating with the Lord! 😉

I have a small group of friends who have decided to start walking through Proverbs together, and every day we share a little text about something specific that stood out to us. Today we were reading Proverbs chapter 8, and I just loved this sweet, little picture that Holy Spirit gave me so much, that I wanted to share it here. 🙂

““So listen, my sons and daughters, to everything I tell you, for nothing will bring you more joy than following my ways. Listen to my counsel, for my instruction will enlighten you. You’ll be wise not to ignore it. If you wait at wisdom’s doorway, longing to hear a word for every day, joy will break forth within you as you listen for what I’ll say. For the fountain of life pours into you every time that you find me, and this is the secret of growing in the delight and the favor of the Lord.”

– Proverbs 8:32-35 TPT

I love how these three verses start and end with telling us how much joy we will walk in if we lean into every word of wisdom that comes from the Lord. And it’s so true… I know, when I receive God‘s wisdom on something that I’ve been seeking from Him (or I haven’t even asked Him for, yet He just generously offered), it fills my heart with joy. It strengthens me—which makes sense because the joy of the Lord is our strength—and it brings delight to my soul. It helps me to be confident in the way to handle situations or how to walk in my life.

I also love how it invites us to longingly wait at God’s door each day for His wisdom. It’s purposeful. Intentional. Like trick or treating, we’re standing at His door, bag wide open, expectant to receive something sweet from the Lord! And His gift to us is not just a spoonful of sweetness, but a FOUNTAIN of life, fresh and flowing with strength, that pours out from Him! 🙂 And our response to joyfully receive His gift fills HIM with delight and favor towards us! ♥️ I love it!

I'm a lover of Jesus who occasionally likes to throw her thoughts out here, mostly as an altar, to remember the paths along which the Lord has taken me, but also as an encouragement to whomsoever. :)
